What Aurum is
Pescara’s golden liqueur.
Aurum is a liqueur made with aged brandy and an infusion of orange peel and juice, with saffron giving its golden colour. It is about 40% alcohol, with a smooth, citrusy, warm taste.
The name was invented by Gabriele D’Annunzio, born in Pescara and a friend of founder Amedeo Pomilio: «aurum», gold, and «aurantium», orange, in a single word.

Aurum was born in Pescara, where the factory was built in the Pineta dannunziana, near the sea. The building has become a symbol of the city.

History and trivia
Amedeo Pomilio founded the Aurum factory in Pescara in 1925. The liqueur was a great success and the factory, in the Pineta dannunziana, became one of the city’s most recognisable buildings.
The name was suggested by Gabriele D’Annunzio, who loved inventing names for products and places. After production in Pescara ended, the building was restored by the city and turned into a cultural centre.
Did you know? D’Annunzio also wrote verses about parrozzo, Pescara’s Christmas cake: two symbols of the city linked to his name.
