The ski facilities of Campo Imperatore are located 15 minutes by car from the city of L’Aquila, the highest station in the Apennines. Access is via the cable car from Fonte Cerreto.
In southern Abruzzo, on the border of the Abruzzo National Park, lies the large ski area composed of the slopes of Roccaraso, Rivisondoli and Pescasseroli.

In the Alto Sangro, near the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, the Skipass Alto Sangro ski area links the slopes of Roccaraso (Aremogna and Gravare), Pizzalto and Monte Pratello (Rivisondoli): 6 gondolas and, according to the consortium, 140 km of slopes between 1,301 and 2,142 metres.
Aremogna: 2 gondolas, 4 chairlifts, 2 drag lifts and a beginners’ area; from 1,668 to 2,142 m (Toppe del Tesoro).
Gravare: 1 gondola up to Toppe del Tesoro and 2 chairlifts; from about 1,580 to 2,142 m.
Pizzalto: 1 gondola linking to Gravare, 1 six-seater chairlift and 2 drag lifts; from about 1,450 to 1,870 m.
Monte Pratello (Rivisondoli): 2 gondolas (the new Vallone – Monte Pratello from the 2026/27 season), 2 chairlifts and 2 drag lifts; from 1,301 to 2,035 m.
Slope length: about 90 km (37 easy, 33 intermediate, 21 difficult) according to Skiresort; the consortium states 140 km. It is one of the largest ski areas in the Apennines.
Pescasseroli is in the consortium's territory, but its slopes on Monte Vitelle are not linked to these (see Pescasseroli).

The ski lifts of Roccaraso and Rivisondoli form the largest ski area in central Italy, created by the union of three originally independent ski stations — Aremogna, Monte Pratello and Pizzalto — later integrated under the Alto Sangro Ski Consortium, which also includes the lifts of Pescasseroli.
According to the consortium, the area has 6 gondolas, 15 chairlifts, 7 drag lifts and 4 magic carpets, with 140 km of slopes.
Access is possible from three main entry points (see the map for details): from the Piana delle 5 Miglia on the Rivisondoli side for Monte Pratello (usually the busiest due to easy access), and from Roccaraso via the Aremogna lifts.
The lowest departure point of the Monte Pratello gondola is at 1,250 m, while on the Aremogna side the lowest access point is around 1,560 m.
The ski area is equipped with a state‑of‑the‑art snowmaking system, and the number of lifts generally ensures quick queue management. Lift passes can be purchased online at Roccaraso.net to avoid queues at ticket offices.
The entire area is well organized in terms of restroom facilities, and the mountain chalets — although not numerous — are efficient and welcoming.
Before heading out, it is advisable to check weather conditions, road accessibility, and especially snow coverage, which can vary significantly.
Due to exposure to cold Balkan winds, the ski area can receive exceptional snowfalls, alternating with periods of reduced snowfall caused by sirocco winds, which may raise temperatures even in mid‑winter.
